A Piece About Refugees Stole UCI's Dance Visions 2017 at the Barclay Theatre
February 22, 2017
UCI's dance department presented master works of this and the last century, with five pieces by five very distinct choreographers. Act II opened with a 20th century master: Balanchine'sย Valse Fantaisie, with tutus and all the expected trappings of neoclassical ballet. The dancers were so good and having such a blast, that the piece got better and better until suddenly, too soon, it was over. But the true thrills were in Act I's world premieres.

American College Dance Festival SCC Gala and National Honors
April 4th, 2016
At the 2016 West Region American College Dance Association Conference over Spring Break 2016, SCC received Gala honors for the dance "Confessions" choreographed by our very own Angela Rosenkrans and performed by dancers in Instinct DanceCorps. Of the 40 dances performed at the conference they were one of 11 chosen for the Gala performance, AND from those 11 dances "Confessions" was chosen as 1st alternate (3rd place) for the National selection. (This means that if one of the 2 pieces chosen for the National ACDA performance at the Kennedy Center does not attend SCC will be asked to perform.)
In the collegiate dance world this is a major honor and we want to recognize Angie and her dancers for their hard work and beautiful performance!!
The ACDA website is http://www.acda.dance for more information.
